Mississippi Department of Public Safety Driver’s License System employed GIS consultants with skill set Natural / Adabas Programmer Analyst for 5 plus years.

Overview of statement of work or project goals/Scope/objectives: The Driver’s License System (DLS) provides regular driver’s license, ID cards, and CDL (commercial) licenses to residents of Mississippi. The objective of this project is to enhance the application with changes mandated by MS legislation and by federal mandated modifications. In addition, MS has contracted with a company to completely replace the DLS system. We will be supporting that effort and maintaining the current system during the development and conversion.
Our GIS consultant is the primary programmer on this project, performing impact analysis, programming, testing, documentation, and implementation review.

Overview of project deliverables: The deliverables include being responsible for are unit tested modified programs, implementation plans, and user and system documentation. Also provide support to current application, determining reasons and actions to take for production problems

Main technical skills utilized for project: COBOL, NATURAL, ADABAS, TSO, CICS, IBM/JCL, XCEL spreadsheets; analysis, programming, problem solving.

Project summary including outcomes achieved: A major CDL Version was implemented in February of 2012. A new VLS (verification of legal status) was added to the application in fall of 2011. Many corrections and enhancements have been implemented to the application, which parts were previously re-written in 2009.
